Common questions

Key information before you begin.

View all questions
Is DictationFlow really free?

Yes. The current web practice tool is free, has no advertising, and does not require an account.

Is the displayed WPM exact?

No. DictationFlow sets a target cadence. Audible timing varies because browsers and operating systems provide different voices and speech engines.

Which languages work?

DictationFlow shows the voices available in your browser. Coverage and quality depend on the voices installed on your device.

Can I use a PDF or image?

You can import text based PDFs and common images. English image text recognition runs in the browser and works best with clear, high contrast pages. Scanned PDFs may need conversion to images first.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, on modern mobile browsers with speech support. A laptop or desktop generally provides the most comfortable setup for longer typing sessions.
